Generics and short domains

There has always been an argument of which type of domains serve a better investment, the generic names or the short and brandable ones. We know that names such as chair.com or table.com could fetch a handsome price, but we should not take these into account as these names are already considered a very premium name which is registered more than perhaps a decade ago.
Lets compare the 2 word generics such as PerfectLoans.com or CheapDomains.com versus a 3 letter .com domain such as foh.com. The reason that we are not taking premium one word generic domains as stated above is because the there are single word short domains available too for a very high price such as bar.com or fog.com. If we were to compare 2 word generics and a short 4 letter .com such as firo.com, I would personally choose the short and brandable ones as this is the Web 2.0 era and these types of domains are the first in choice for companies or site owners.
